Proud of Dairy
Belton Cheese are pleased to support the "Proud of Dairy" campaign. We're part of an incredibly diverse industry. It accommodates not only a wide range of dairy products, business models and farming systems, but thousands of individuals, each with our own set of views and circumstances. But while opinions may sometimes differ, we all take pride in what we do.
This campaign is about the industry building a sense of pride in dairy products and dairy farming to help us present a united front that in turn promotes a positive image to consumers.
We produce the delicious foods that millions of us enjoy every day
The industry makes a wide range of tasty and nutritious dairy products – including more than 700 different varieties of cheese (more than the French!)
Dairy is important to the economy
The industry generates more than £8bn per year and employs 80,000 people.
The dairy industry cares for the environment
The dairy industry is committed to minimising its impact on the environment and was the first sector in Britain to agree an environmental Roadmap. Farmers go to great lengths to preserve wildlife, too.
The health and welfare of our cows is our farmers' number one priority
Keeping our cows happy and healthy is good for them and good for us.
We embrace the diversity of farms and farmers
There is room for all different sizes and types of farms in Britain and the industry shares the common goal of producing good food in the most responsible, sustainable way possible.
