National Awards Accolade for Belton Cheese
The 18th annual British Cheese Awards took place at a sparkling event held at the City Hall in Cardiff this weekend and local cheesemaker Belton Cheese shone winning an incredible two Trophies including Best Territorial and 24 medals.
In what’s hailed as the annual “Cheese Oscars”, almost 1,000 entries were judged by an esteemed panel of cheese experts, food writers, chefs and gastronomes.
Of the 26 awards presented to Belton Cheese, 5 were gold, 4 silver and 15 were bronze. In addition, Belton’s Smoked Red Leicester beat stiff competition to be crowned the Best British Flavour Added Cheese. So far this year, Belton Cheese has been awarded more than 180 awards, 56 of which are Gold and 22 Trophies including two Supreme Title crowns.
