International recognition for Belton Cheese
The International Cheese Awards held yesterday at Dorfold Hall in Nantwich, Cheshire has been a fantastic success for local farmhouse cheese makers Belton Cheese. Cleaning up with a medal tally of 12 gold’s, 10 silver’s and 5 bronze’s, Belton Cheese was also presented with a staggering 5 trophies including the GEA Westfalia Separator Award for Best Outright English Cheese and to top it off was deemed to have the Best Stand at the show.
The awards now in its 114th year, attracted a record number of entrants from all over the world and the competition was fierce in the 160 cheese classes.
Following recent wins at the Royal Bath & West Show, the Cheshire Show, the Great Yorkshire and the Royal Welsh Show, these latest awards cement Shropshire based Belton Cheese’s position as one of the country’s top territorial cheese producers.
Commenting on wins Justin Beckett, Managing Director said: “With a record number of entrants from more than 24 countries, the International Cheese Awards truly recognise the highest quality cheeses in the world and we are honoured to be part of this distinguished group. These awards are judged by a panel of industry experts and to come away with an array of medals and 5 trophies is amazing but testament to the hard work of everybody at Belton Cheese! This year we gave our stand a complete makeover and with more then 90 exhibitors are really proud to have won the Best Stand award”.
