Belton’s double win at Food and Farming Industry Awards
Shropshire based Belton Cheese proudly celebrated a victorious double, as this year’s Food and Farming Industry Awards held on Friday at the House of Commons, honoured the very best in UK agriculture.
This year’s Personality of the Year Award attracted more nominations then ever and in what was deemed as a very well deserved award for a man that is held in high esteem across the industry, John Beckett, Chairman of Belton Cheese, was crowned winner.
In addition, Belton Cheese was presented with the award for Family Business of the Year, which recognised the efforts of the Beckett family and their highly skilled staff to maintain the tradition of excellence in cheese making.
This is the first time in the awards history where one company has won two awards. James Paice MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Agriculture and Rural Affairs was on hand to present the awards to John and Justin Beckett. This year’s winners hailed from local, national and international companies, all of which demonstrated an imaginative approach to their business along with an ability to adapt quickly to new business ideas and pioneer ground-breaking technology.
Commenting on the wins, John Beckett, Chairman of Belton Cheese said,” It was such a wonderful surprise to win Personality of the Year award. To also come away with Family Business of the Year has topped off a fantastic evening and would not have been possible without the hard work, dedication and pride demonstrated by everyone at Belton Cheese.”
