Belton Cheese deemed Britain's Best

The British Cheese Awards, which took place at the National Museum in Cardiff last night, was a huge success for Belton Cheese with a tremendous haul of 14 medals.

The awards, which represent the pinnacle of Britain’s finest cheesemakers, showcase the country’s superb cheesemaking heritage and with a record number of entries, this year the competition was stiffer then ever.

Judging for the awards took place earlier this month, however the results remained tightly under wraps until they were announced at last night’s dinner. Of the 14 awards presented to Belton Cheese, 5 were gold, 3 silver and 6 were bronze. In addition, to help support the British Cheese awards, Belton was proud to sponsor the Best Organic Cheese category, which was won by Dayleford Creamery.

September has been a very fruitful month for Belton who also won 5 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals as well as a plethora of cups including the Farmhouse Medium Cheddar Trophy, the Double Gloucester Trophy and the Cheshire Trophy at the Frome Cheese Show.

Commenting on the wins Justin Beckett, Managing Director of Belton Cheese said: “We are truly delighted with our awards at this year’s British Cheese Awards. September has been the most successful month of the year with our vast medal and trophy tally at the Frome Cheese Show. We are delighted and proud to come away with so many prestigious awards this month and it is testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone at Belton Cheese.”
