Belting start for Belton Cheese
Shropshire based Belton Cheese is celebrating a double award accolade. The first of these included a tremendous haul of 4 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals at the Royal Bath and West Show held last week. For the second year in a row, the impressive medal tally meant that Belton Cheese was also awarded the prestigious “Aplin & Barrett Perpetual Trophy”.
In addition to this, Belton Cheese was also recognised at The Grocer Own Label Food & Drink Awards held in London. Belton’s Farmhouse Red Leicester was deemed worthy of a Gold whilst their Wensleydale with blueberries was awarded a Silver within the Speciality Cheese category. These awards judge food and drink products in the own label category on criteria such as taste, content, appearance, packaging, labelling, innovation and value for money.
Award winning farmhouse cheeses including Red Leicester, Cheshire and Creamy Lancashire have been made at Belton Farm since the early eighteen hundreds and with a dedication to traditional methods and highly experienced cheesegraders on hand, each and every cheese is top class.
Commenting on the wins, Justin Beckett, Managing Director said,” The Royal Bath & West Show is our first show of the year and we are absolutely delighted with the vast medal tally. It is also a great honour to be recognised for our cheese at The Grocer Own Label Food and Drink awards and to come away with two prizes is a privilege.”
